Edit VG30 MTS clips on Final Cut Pro-Install/Ingest Sony NEX-VG30 1080p 60p AVCHD MTS to FCP 6/7/X for Editing Mac

This article offers you a darn easy MTS Final Cut Pro solution for importing and editing Sony VG30 MTS files in Final Cut Pro X/7/6 as well as M2TS to FCP.

After the Sony A99 full frame DSLR, and the NEX-VG900 full frame large sensor camera, Sony went on to release the NEX-VG30 that is the direct successor to the NEX-VG20E (released last year).

Sony NEX-VG30:
- same form factor as VG900
- comes bundled with a 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 lens (with zoomrocker!)
- has an APS-C sized sensor (half the size of the VG900)
- a little more affordable
- similar audio
- similar framrates & 24p with cinematic gamma
- same nice viewfinder

It looks like the VG30's main difference to the new VG900 is really just the smaller sensor. We make 1080 60p AVCHD recordings using Sony NEX-VG30 , but it is not easy to install Sony NEX-VG30 MTS clips to FCP 6/7/X on Mac OS X for editing as the 1080 60p AVCHD flies can not be ingested natively into Final Cut Pro 6/7/X. Even we apply the Log and Transfer plug in to import the AVCHD footages successfully, we will not satisfied with the transcoded Apple ProRes 422 LT files(The Log & Transfer can do the AVCHD to Apple ProRes422 LT conversion work for me as a background converter). So to find a powerful Mac AVCHD Converter is necessary, we need it to transcode VG30's 1080 60p AVCHD to FCP 7 ProRes for editing and avoiding the quality loss.

After googling, I found Brorsoft Mac AVCHD ( .MTS) to ProRes Converter which is the best video conversion software so far I have found, it offers particular profiles for Final Cut Pro including ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT), ProRes 422 (Proxy) and ProRes 4444 as well as the ProRes 422 (HQ), which can output the video keeping the original quality.
